What can i basically eat if i am on the ATKINS DIET? |

| I just need the basics, don't need ALL the details, history,etc..just a list of a few things that I can eat,and cannot eat.

| Well start with a different diet. Any diet that doesn’t have a balanced nutrition profile is not going to give you lasting results and keep you healthy.
Carbohydrates are good for you and give you energy. Why don’t you just count your calories and keep a food diary. A good diet will have 60% carbs, 20% lean protein, and 20% fat. All you need to loose weight is to take in fewer calories then you burn. |

| You start out by eating foods that have little or no carbohydrates(check the Nutritional Info labels) but are rich in proteins. Mostly meats and cheeses. If you're a non-vegan vegetarian, you can still do Atkins(as I did at one time) by eating veggie burgers(just not the breaded kind, since breading adds carbs), eggs, fatfree yogurt products, and cheeses. Low-carb protein drinks are good too. |

| The atkins diet is basically cutting out carbohydrate and eating lots of protein - eggs, meat, fish, bacon. So no bread, no pasta, no potato.
Breakfast would be something like fried egg and bacon - no toast. You can eat as much meat as you like, as long as there is no carbohydrate. However, I would urge you to get medical advice before a diet like this. It does make you lose weight, but it can put strain on your kidneys because of the amount of protein you are consuming. Cholesterol can also be an issue. If you want to diet, I would recommend calorie counting and exercise over this diet. |
